Green River Lake fishing report — KDFWR — Aug. 15

August 16, 2009 by admin · Comments Off

Green River Lake
Fishing overall has been slow.  Largemouth activity best on main lake and secondary points at night or late in the day on shad or crawfish colored crankbaits, Carolina, Texas & shakey-head worm rigs.  Creel clerk reports some shallow activity available using topwaters and smaller cranks as some fish are up chasing small shad on flats in the creeks and coves.

Some crappie still being caught fishing channel drops with minnows and small soft plastics.

Muskie action has been good trolling main lake flats or fishing the upper reaches of feeder creeks. Walleye action good on nightcrawlers near channel drops in 15-18′ of water. Bass action good early, late & at night on deep diving crankbaits & large (10″ plus) carolina or shakey head rigged worms . Taking 25-30 lbs to win recent bass tournaments. Channel catfish activity picking up as their spawning season is wrapping up. Good success being had on jugs or still fishing with cutbait, liver or nightcrawlers.  Tailwater activity for walleye, crappie, & catfish will be good as lake discharges will be up for awhile due to recent rains.
