Kentucky Lake fishing report — KDFWR — July 16

This time of year is not typically an active time for crappie on Kentucky lake, but we are hearing of folks catching nice crappie in 15-18 feet of water off of channel ledges using minnows. As the shad minnow get larger, the largemouth bass and crappie will move to the backs of the bays to take advantage of the smorgasbord. Any baits will do around active fish, but shallow crankbaits and spinners for bass and minnows for crappie will be your best bet.
